CBD Appetizers: 4 Recipes to Get the Party Started

The holidays are fast approaching, and that means many of us are busy making plans, thinking about the perfect presents, and looking forward to spending time with family and friends.

And of course dreaming (and drooling) about all that food.

And while nothing truly beats a good old fashioned turkey dinner or festive feast, we’ll admit to being partial to the appetizers. But not just any appetizers… CBD appetizers.

Cooking with CBD: A Quick Reminder

Any CBD recipes we share don’t typically involve a lot of heat.

When you heat CBD oil to a certain temperature, it breaks down and can lose its potency. And then what’s the point of using it! For that reason, if we are using heat, we try to stick to BELOW 350 degrees. Or, we try to incorporate the CBD into the recipe after all that high heat cooking is done, mixing it in at the end whenever possible!

Additionally, because everyone’s tolerance of CBD is different, you never want to overdo it.

Be mindful of what the tolerance level is for you and anyone else who might be enjoying your CBD app. For a good guideline, add only enough for the servings of the dish, divided.

CBD Appetizers

Ready to impress your guests? These CBD appetizers give some traditional appetizers an extra kick!

Just don’t forget to let everyone know there’s CBD in them!!

1. Spicy Bacon, Cheddar Ranch Dip

Go with a little or a lot of heat – it’s up to you!

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cream cheese
  • 2/3 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup bacon bits (we make our own, but store-bought bits are good too)
  • 1/2 package of ranch dip mix
  • 1/4 cup fresh chives, chopped
  • hot sauce – whatever your tastebuds (and guests can handle)
  • 4 tsp CBD Oil (or more or less depending on your preference)

Directions:

  1. In a microwave safe bowl, warm cream cheese to storable consistency.
  2. Stir in the mayo, bacon bits, ranch dip mix, hot sauces, and cheese. Give it another spin in the microwave to melt the cheddar.
  3. Once melty and gooey, stir in the chives and the CBD.
  4. Serve with toasted pitas, veggies, or your favorite crackers.

2. CBD Bruschetta

A classic at any party!

Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped fine
  • 4 large tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 c. thinly sliced basil
  • 2 tbsp. balsamic vinegar 
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • 2 tsp CBD Oil (or more or less depending on your preference)

Directions:

  1. In a medium pan, pour your oil and heat garlic over medium-low heat, heat oil. Add garlic and cook until lightly golden, about 2 to 4 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. In a large bowl, gently toss together tomatoes, basil, vinegar, and salt. Add the garlic and oil and toss to combine. Let sit for at least 30 minutes.
  3. When ready to serve, spoon onto thin slices of toasted baguette!

Tip: For extra yummy bread, brush each slice with a little oil and rub some roasted garlic on before spooning on your bruschetta.

3. Layered Nacho Dip

This one is super easy and quick, and always a hit!

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup salsa (here’s our recipe)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 package taco seasoning mix
  • hot sauce – whatever your tastebuds (and guests can handle)
  • 4 tsp CBD Oil (or more or less depending on your preference)
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup cilantro (optional)
  • 1/4 chopped jalapeno peppers (optional)

Directions:

  1. In a microwave safe bowl, warm the cream cheese to get it to a storable consistency. Blend in taco seasoning mix and hot sauce to taste. Stir CBD in really well.
  2. In a deep dish, layer cream cheese mix, salsa, sour cream, tomatoes, and top with cheese.
  3. Sprinkle green onions, jalapeños, and cilantro on top.
  4. Serve with chips!

4. Creamy Feta Pinwheels

These bite-sized beauties are packed with flavor, and the cucumbers add a good crunch!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups crumbled feta
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 greek yogurt, plain
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill
  • 4 tsp CBD Oil (or more or less depending on your preference)
  • half a large cucumber, chopped
  • 8 roll ups
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. In a mixer, blend together cream cheese, feta, and yogurt until you get a creamy texture.
  2. Blend in the lemon juice, garlic, dill, CBD oil, and salt and pepper.
  3. Gently fold in the cucumbers and spread thin layer onto each roll up, then carefully slice into pinwheels.
