CBD BBQ Sauce: 3 DIY Recipes (with Video!)

All across the country, BBQ season is upon us! Whether you’ve been out by the grill all year, or finally getting to set up that patio set and soak in the sun, nothing beats a good ole’ fashioned BBQ!

Well, nothing as long as you’re using CBD BBQ sauce!

Don’t have any hanging around the fridge? That’s cool. We prefer to make our own anyway. And, to help you out, we’re sharing our 3 favorite recipes with you!

CBD BBQ Sauce Recipes

Ready, set, grill!

The Easy One

This traditional homestyle CBD BBQ sauce recipe is super quick and easy to make. It’s got your typical tangy, smoky and slightly-sweet flavors that really hit the spot!

What you need:

  • 15oz can of crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup of white vinegar
  • 1/3 cup of honey
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 3 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1 pinch cayenne
  • CBD oil

Once you’ve mixed all the ingredients (except for the CBD oil), pour it into a pot and bring it to a boil. Then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15 minutes. Let it sit until it gets to room temperature, then mix in your CBD really well. Voila.

The Vegan One

Doing the plants-only thing? No worries! This BBQ sauce will please even the heartiest meat connoisseur!!

What you need:

  • 8oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2/3 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/8 tsp chili powder
  • 1/8 tsp ground mustard
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon
  • CBD oil

Just like the last one, once you’ve mixed all the ingredients (except for the CBD oil), pour it into a pot and bring it to a boil. Then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15 minutes. Let it sit until it gets to room temperature, then mix in your CBD really well. Voila.

The Gut-Friendly One

Show your gut a little love with this CBD BBQ sauce featuring miso and kombucha! And not only will it make that friendly gut bacteria happy, it also tastes super delicious!

What you need:

  • 2 1/2 cup of binger beer (or any other fermented beverage)
  • 1 whole chipotle chili
  • 10 tbsp white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp coffee
  • 1/2 tsp cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 4 crushed garlic cloves
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • CBD oil

Toss all the ingredients into a blender. You want to give these a really good mixing, not just a quick spin. You really want all those flavors to combine. You don’t need to cook this one up – it’s full of live, friendly bacteria, so you don’t want to kill it.

These sauces are good in the fridge for a about a month. We left the gut-friendly one on the counter to ferment for a few days, then we put it in the fridge as well.

You can also freeze them, but if the liquids separate, just put the sauce back in a pot and cook it up again to get it good as gold once more! Enjoy.

**A note on how much CBD to use. For each recipe we used 3-4 full droppers, but increase or decrease depending on your typical dose. Now, you’re not going to use the CBD BBQ sauce every day (well, you might), and you’re not going to slather it on as a way to get your daily dose, but it will just add that extra healthy kick!
