Why is CBD so Popular?

Over the past couple of years, more and more people have turned to CBD for a multitude of reasons.

In fact, according to recent survey statistics, 33% of American adults have used CBD at least once, and 64% report at least knowing what is is.

And an estimated 64 million Americans have tried CBD in the last 24 months.

But even just a few years ago, most of those 64 million people had never even heard about CBD. So why is CBD so popular now? How did we get here? Let’s explore.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD stands for cannabidiol. It’s one of the many different cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is another one you’ve probably heard of. THC is the cannabinoid that makes people feel “high.” CBD though, is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid, so it doesn’t give you that same feeling.

Instead, it works with a system in your body called the Endocannabinoid System. This system helps maintain balance in the body. When something is out of whack in the body, signals are sent throughout the ES so it knows where to target. When you take CBD, if heads to wherever the ES notes an issue.

Most CBD oil on the market comes from the hemp plant. That’s because hemp contains much lower levels of THC and much great levels of CBD. But no, hemp oil and CBD oil are not the same thing. Hemp seed oil is a cold-pressed extract from the seeds of the hemp plant. CBD oil comes from the leaves, flowers, and stalks of the hemp plant. Both are totally different compounds with different makeups and different benefits.

Why is CBD so Popular?

So, why is CBD so popular?

Well, you’ve probably heard a lot about the various benefits. We don’t (technically we can’t – here’s why) talk about those benefits, but the research exists – and is pretty astounding.

But those benefits aren’t the only reason CBD has grown in popularity. Here are a few others.

  1. Accessibility – Thanks to changes in legislation over the past couple of years, CBD has become widely available in many health and wellness shops across the country, making it more accessible than ever to those who want to try it. Online offerings also give people the chance to try it without ever having to leave their homes.
  2. Wide Range of Products – From tinctures, capsules, powders and gummies to beauty products, clothing, and even furniture, there’s literally thousands of different products out there containing CBD. This makes it easy to try different methods to gain from this powerful plant.
  3. Greater Knowledge – With increased popularity comes increased awareness, and vice versa. If limited knowledge was once a deterrent, that’s no longer an issue. It is easy to find all kinds of information, from anecdotal evidence and personal stories, to purr-reviewed research, to general information.
  4. Affordability – For a natural health solution that many find as good (or better) than the pharmaceutical options, CBD affordability is definitely attractive. Knowing you can get excellent results without the huge dollar signs, or the potential side effects, is a major boon.

So, why is CBD so popular? Because Americans, and the global population as a whole, is finally getting the chance to see it in action. We’re able to better understand the science behind it, review the studies, and hear the stories of those who’ve tried it with great success.

CBD is here, and it’s not going anywhere. After all, 64 million Americans (and counting) can’t be wrong! And for that, we’re thankful!
