We’re big fans of CBD, and not just for ourselves. Sure, we use it and love it, but we also give it to our pets.

And, just like humans, getting the right CBD dosage for dogs and cats (and any other pets) is important.

So, how much CBD oil should you be giving your dog?

CBD Dosage for Dogs or Cats

The right dosage of CBD for your pet can vary depending on the situation.

Some animals have more receptors in their bodies than others, and you may need to experiment to find the right amount and how often.

In general through, a decent guideline to follow is 1-5 mg CBD for every 10 pounds of body weight.

For example:

• X-Small dog or cat (up to 10lbs) = 1-2MG per day
• Small dog or large cat (10-25lbs) = 2-3MG per day
• Medium dog (25-50lbs) = 3-5MG per day
• Large dog (50-75lbs) = 5-8MG per day
• X-Large dog (75-100lbs) = 8-10MG per day

Our best advice when starting out is to start small. Start with a dose on the low end of the range, then work your way up until you see desired results. Depending on how you administer the CBD, you can see results in as little as 30-60 minutes.

Sometimes, it takes a few doses to see improvements, so stick with it, your pet will thank you.

How to Use CBD for Your Pet

There are several different ways to use CBD for your pet.

We prefer it in tincture form. This makes it easy to administer – you just add the right dose to your pet’s food or simply use the dropper to drop it right into her mouth. You can even drop it right onto a treat and give the treat.

A tincture in the mouth is also the best way for your pet to absorb it because it doesn’t have to pass through the digestive tract. Instead, it’s absorbed right into the bloodstream.
