What’s the Best Time of Day to Take CBD Oil?

Whether someone is new to CBD or has been using it on a daily basis for years, we hear the same question: what’s the best time of day to take CBD oil.

It’s a good question. After all, if you’re using it with a specific goal in mind, you want to optimize the results as best you can. And timing with CBD is important.

And while the best time to take CBD isn’t an exact science, there are certain things to consider to to get the best results. It can also take time to find that sweet spot during the day.

Best Time of Day to Take CBD Oil: Morning, Noon or Night?

Everyone is different when it comes to CBD – there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. For example, some people can follow dosing guidelines to the letter and see results right away. Others need to take it every day for a few days to start seeing really results. Others may need a bit more or a bit less that what’s recommended. Your optimal dose of CBD will vary from your best friend’s, depending on your unique body chemistry, type of and severity of symptoms, and your goals with CBD.

And your results may change over time – you might find yourself needing less and less to get the same results. That’s the beauty of reverse tolerance (you can find out more about that right here!).

So, it should come as no surprise that the best time of day to take CBD oil also depends on a variety of factors, including:

  • What you’re taking it for
  • How CBD makes you feel

Morning

Lots of people prefer to take their CBD first thing in the morning, along with other supplements/medications and with their coffee and breakfast. Some even add it to their coffee! Often people who take it in the morning say they do so if they’re using it for pain.

Some people say that CBD boosts their mood, makes them feel energised and improves their alertness, so taking it first thing in the morning makes sense.

Noon

We say noon, but really we mean throughout the day. We see this mostly for people who take it for things like headaches that spring up out of nowhere, or if they’re taking it for anxiety.

Again, if CBD makes you feel energized, you may find a dropper in your afternoon latte gives you the boost you need to make it through that mid-day slump.

Night

For those who use CBD for sleep, most often it is taken before bed. The same goes for those who use it for pain, if that pain disrupts their ability to sleep. We’ve heard both of these scenarios work for a lot of people.

For some people, CBD brings on feelings of relaxation, so it makes sense that if this is what you’re looking for you might choose to take it at night. Just remember, it might take some time to figure out how long it takes for CBD to work for you. Whether you take it 30 minutes or 10 minutes before snuggling down for a snooze will depend on that timeline.

Best Time of Day to Take CBD Oil: Our Thoughts

The beauty of CBD comes from its relationship with the endocannabinoid system, that regulatory system that helps maintain balance in the body. A well-balanced ES can go a long way in ensuring the rest of your body is healthy, and health plays a role in many of the reasons one might choose to take CBD.

So really, whenever you do decide to take it, your ES will thank you.

And really, the best time to take it all depends on what works best for you. The more you use CBD, the more likely it is you’ll develop a pattern based on how it affects you at various times throughout the day. And of course, the easiest time to remember will likely be another contributing factor.

That said, from what we’ve seen in the science, CBD typically stays in the body for 6-8 hours, so we recommend breaking your dose up into two, once in the morning, once at night, to get a full day’s worth of coverage.

Good luck!
